Child Life

A group (for children ages 3 and up) designed to meet the needs of children and teens facing heart issues and their siblings. This group meets simultaneously with the LCK hospital meeting for parents and is facilitated by Certified Child Life Specialists in one
of our LCH playrooms. The group offers a safe place for kids to learn more about their diagnosis, talk about real life experiences, and most importantly have fun and meet others!

Goals:
Building and maintaining supportive relationships.
Facilitating therapeutic activities in a fun environment
Assisting children and teens by providing support and education
Educating kids and correcting misconceptions about the heart, hospitalization, and illness
Allowing expression of feelings related to being a child or sibling of a child with heart
issues.

Examples of past activities include:
*Arts/crafts, hospital bingo, scavenger hunt, wish tree, guatamalan worry dolls, medical guessing game, sharing circles, journaling/scrapbooking
