Support for members is achieved, in part, through meetings, celebrations, a picnic, the internet (emails, our website, facebook and an online forum), a membership database, hospital visits, member recognition (birthdays, hospitalizations, bereavement) and an educational library of CHD-related, health and family coping materials and website listings.

We seek to provide support to those CHD patients/ families who are not yet members of LCK by reaching out to them with awareness brochures, newsletters, a toll-free number for phone support, coffee drop ins at Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) and presentation of a ’Care Package’ to patients admitted to the CVICU at LCH.

Meetings
Through out the year LCK will be having various meetings. Some will be social events and other will be more informational. Keep checking back to the website for information on our up coming meetings.

Lemonades
Once a month we will have Lemonade and cookies available in the Sanger Clinic waiting room. This gives us a chance to let other patients know we are here for them if they need us.

Heart to Heart
LCK has established a program called "Heart to Heart" in which experienced parents of CHD children are matched to new families seeking support of other families.

Levine Cardiac Kids Corner
A specific area has been designated in the new Sanger pediatric offices to be the “LCK Kids Corner” in which gently used toys and books, donated by LCK members, are provided for entertainment purposes prior to a doctor’s appointment. A information tale is also in the area so that items such as our flyers and meeting notes can be posted for parents to see/read in an effort to spread LCK awareness. Sanger has is also proudly displaying our "heart babies" on their walls thanks to the photography of James Dockery. LCKloset
Levine Cardiac Kids, in conjunction with the Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute pediatric office, is involved in an ongoing effort to distribute gently-worn clothing and other baby items to heart families in need. The members of LCK know how incredibly difficult it is to have a very sick child, without the added complication of not being able to provide adequate clothing for that child. In this small way we hope to make a difference in the lives of these very special heart families. Scrapbook
Levine Cardiac Kids has created a scrapbook that documents our CHD kids' heart stories and their accomplishments. We are doing this for our historical purposes, as well as to place in the waiting room of the CVICU for families to refer to give inspiration and show how the kids develop/thrive after surgeries.

Care Bags
LCK presents Care Packages to patients/families coping with a CHD who are admitted to the CVICU in LCH. The Care Packages (a cotton tote bag with the LCK logo) contain items like snacks, pen/paper, lotion, a sports water bottle, lip balm, lotion, etc. that we know, based on our hospital experiences, are valued and appreciated. Additionally, the package contains information about LCK, the CVICU, and – for those patients older than 1 and who are undergoing heart surgery - a “Hug n’ Heal” Heart Pillow created in a joint effort between LCK and the Girl Scouts.
